Background

Allan Corfield has spent most of his adult life living in Crossford Fife and attended Queen Anne High School before spending 5 years at Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen. At the Scott Sutherland School of Architecture, he studied under Prof Robin Webster & Jonathan Woolf where he graduated with an Honours and Masters Degree in Advanced Architectural Studies.

During his studies Allan joined Watson Burnett Architects (WBA) Dunfermline office, where he went on to spend 6 enjoyable years. With the help of his mentor Robin Watson Allan completed his ARB Part 3 qualifications and became an RIBA Chartered Architect in 2008. Throughout his time at WBA Allan was involved on projects ranging in value from £30k up to £20M and has worked extensively at each stage of the projects from initial design to on site supervision. This has given him experience in most building types. Allan has completed successful projects including; bespoke new build housing & extensions, schools, church conversions, agricultural buildings and a number of high tech. Ministry of Defence facilities. His time at WBA culminated in his work being featured in Homes & Interiors Scotland Magazine and having projects exhibited at the RSA Gallery in Edinburgh.

Allan has always had an interest in management and aspirations of running his own practice, and in the summer of 2009 he set up Allan Corfield Architects (ACA). ACA aims to provide a client focused personal service, which responds to the current financial and environmental situation. ACA’s focus is clear ‘people, place and design’.

In order to exceed clients expectations a company charter has been created, which sets out the goals and aims which will be met during every project. In addition, ACA has invested in the latest architectural rendering software (Archicad) which will allow clients to receive an accurate eye catching glimpse of their proposed design in 3D dimensions.

Allan is a member of the Carnegie Chapter of the largest referal organisation 'the BNI' and regularly attends meetings held at the Dunfermline Football Club. For the last 6 months Allan has also taken on the role as Chapter Director, where he leads the weekly meetings.

As part of the continued growth of ACA the decision has been taken to form a private limited company, this will allow the company to service large scale commercial projects. Also we are delighted to announce that we have moved into new office accommodation, Buchan House is located in the heart of the vibrant Carnegie Business Campus in Dunfermline.

Over the last 2 years ACA has secured 50 individual commissions, including a pair of neighbouring steading extensions and our first global project in Quezon, Philippines. Recently we have built up a close working relationship with Monkey Bizness, Uk’s premier children’s indoor play centre operators and are currently working on centres in Edinburgh and Glasgow.

Towards the end of 2010 and throughout 2011 Allan started researching the Passive House design principle, which will become the design standard for residential properties in 2019. ACA hopes to become a design leader throughout Scotland in providing energy efficient low cost housing. The Passive House principles will be shown in our new dedicated website which will be live in April 2012, in the meantime please visit our project pages to get a glimpse of our 2 completed Passive House design projects. We have also completed (in partnership with a number of major companies), a fact sheet which highlights the key principles home for our 'Passive Home for the future'.

Allan has also recently trained as an' Energy Consultant', working alongside Icon Energy to provide advice on the designing and the installation of renewable technologies. Through Icon Energy ACA can provide clients with the lateset PV solar panels, Solar Thermal panels and Ground & Air source heat pumps - all of these systems take advantage of the Governments Feed in Tariff. For more information please call Allan on 01383 737101.

Please contact ACA to arrange your free no obligation consultation on any private or commercial project, and by working together ACA can add value to your property or business.
